Once you have added a field, it is possible to draw that field’s location onto the map provided.

Adding a field boundary is easier if you have added the field’s map sheet and NG number (or LPID number) before you start, so this is highly recommended. For more information, please see How to set up Fields.

Adding a field boundary, with field identifier entered in field details

From the field details drawer:

  1. Select the field map section on the right hand side. This will be a window showing the location of your field, with a pencil icon in the top right corner

  2. In the new window that opens, if you need to adjust the view before you start drawing, you can:

    • Zoom in or out: either by using the + and – icons available on the left hand side; using the roller on your mouse; or using your trackpad as appropriate

    • Move the focus of the map by clicking and dragging to move the map view.

  3. From the icons on the left, select ‘Draw a polygon’ (the pentagon icon)

  4. Return your mouse to the map, and make a left click where you want to start drawing the field boundary

  5. Keep clicking around the field

  6. To finish, click on the first point you drew at step 4. This will complete the field boundary.

  4. Return your mouse to the map, and make a left click where you want to start drawing the field boundary

  5. Keep clicking around the field

  6. To finish, click on the first point you drew at step 4. This will complete the field boundary.

Editing a field boundary

If you wish to edit a field boundary after it has been drawn:

  1. Select the ‘Edit layers’ icon from the left (pencil in a box icon)

  2. A number of points will become visible in your field boundary. Click and drag any points you wish to move

  3. When you have finished, select ‘Done’ next to the ‘Edit layers’ icon.

If you wish to remove a field boundary after it has been drawn:

  1. Select the ‘Delete layers’ icon from the left (bin icon)

  2. Select the boundary you wish to remove

  3. Select ‘Done’ next to the ‘Delete layers’ icon.

Field markers

After a field has been allocated a boundary, it is possible to add a marker to the field. This might be used, for example, to show the position of the main field gate.

The steps below assume you are still in the field map window after adding a boundary. If you are starting from the main Gatekeeper window:

  1. Go to the Fields module

  2. Select the required field

  3. Go to the details tab

  4. Select the pencil icon in the field map section from the right hand side – this will be an image of your field with its boundary.

To add a field marker

From the field map window:

  1. Select the marker icon from the buttons on the left (picture of a location pin)

  2. Drop the marker at the required spot by clicking on the map

To edit an existing field marker

You can click and drag to move a field marker to a new location.

From the field map window:

  1. Select the edit layers icon from the buttons on the left (picture of a square with a pencil in)

  2. Click and hold on the marker

  3. Drag the marker to the required location

  4. Release the mouse to drop the marker

  5. Select Done to finish

To delete a field marker

From the field map window:

  1. Select the delete layers icon (picture of a rubbish bin)

  2. Select the marker, and it will disappear

  3. Select Done to finish.
